LOS ANGELES (Friday, Aug. 20, 2021) – Playing the second of two home games in four days, the LA Galaxy fell 2-1 to the San Jose Earthquakes at Dignity Health Sports Park on Friday night.

The loss marked the Galaxy’s first back-to-back loss during the 2021 campaign, with LA moving to 5-1-1 following a loss this year. LA is 3-2-1 in its last six matches played dating back to a 4-1 win over the Portland Timbers on July 30. In 12 games played at home in 2021, the Galaxy are 7-4-1, having scored 20 and conceded 14 for a +6 goal differential at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Friday’s match marked the 77th all-time MLS regular-season meeting between the Galaxy and the Earthquakes with LA leading the series 34-27-16. The match marked the third meeting between LA and San Jose in 2021, with the Galaxy holding a 2-1-0 record against the Quakes in league play this year.
