Albert Marshall, un aîné mikmaq décrit l'approche « regard des deux yeux ». Cette approche met l'accent sur la nécessité de préserver le savoir traditionnel afin qu'il puisse être utilisé non seulement pour guérir la famine culturelle vécue par des générations de peuples autochtones opprimés par les pensionnats et par la destruction de leur langue et de leur culture, mais qu'il soit également mis à la disposition de tous les peuples.
