During his trial, Abinadi was asked about the meaning of Isaiah 52. The priests were trying to charge Abinadi with false prophecy based on the inconsistency of his message with the “glad tidings” promised by Isaiah. Abinadi responded with a vigorous defense that used Isaiah 53 to help properly interpret Isaiah 52:7–10.
