Recently, UnitedHealth Insurance decided to mail 200,000 patients at home COVID tests and generic Tamiflu. While this may seem like a good idea, this can cause several issues for the patient.
Some of those issues include a lack of continuity of care, as well as them not being able to get a replacement if the medication is lost (at home or in the mail) since many insurances limit how often they cover oseltamivir to once every 180 days.
This all begs the question, why can't pharmacists be able to test for the flu? Provider status aside, this is something that we should be able to due to limit the spread of flu and COVID. We can do COVID tests, why not influenza?
