On this episode of Paint ED, we talk with a few leaders in our industry and in our association about—you guessed it—the impact of coronavirus--or COVID-19-- on painting businesses. Our guests are Jason Paris from Paris Painting in Minnesota, Gina Koert from SPI in Colorado, and Nick May from Walls By Design in Colorado. Jason is a PCA Board of Directors member, Gina is the PCA Board of Directors Chair, and Nick is an industry educator and influencer who just recently hosted the Crank conference and has a lot of feedback from business owners large and small. This is a sort of PCA Think Tank that is generating ideas on what some leading businesses are doing in the current economic landscape. Some of the questions we ask them are: what are you seeing in the industry, how are you responding to it, how are you saving on overhead expenses, how do you make sure you don’t lose customers, how do you make decisions for your teams and employees…we cover the gamut on what to do, and what not to do. Perhaps one of the best lines of the podcast was this, “Paralysis is not allowed.” To be sure, there is a lot of change happening right now in the economy and in the painting industry, but it’s not all bad. Your leadership is needed in your company, and leaders like you will redefine our industry for the future. It’s a time of opportunity in many ways, but you have to run lean, mean, and…smart.
