Text of article:Oregon has a new state law. The law is for stores and restaurants. The law bans single-use plastic checkout bags.
Single-use: You use it once. Then you throw it away.
Ban: A law says you must not do something
Many people want the new law. They say it protects the environment. They say it saves energy.
Others do not like the new law. They say paper bags are bad in the rain. They say cloth bags are dirty.
16 Oregon cities already ban plastic bags.
