Genesis 2:1-3 | True rest
“Rest” in Genesis 2 means cessation of activity. God rests, to model a pattern of behaviour for us. We can be sure that the world is safe in his hands while we rest.
And God’s rest is the first “it is finished” moment in the bible. He declared that the work of creation was done.
Rest is God’s gift to us and it is essential to our pattern of life and work.
