Description

A midlands soldier, honoured with a Defence Forces award, says the army was the best place to be during his struggles with alcoholism and cancer.

Private Damien Greene from Athlone was presented with the Values Champion Award by President Michael D. Higgins earlier this week.

He credits his colleagues in the military with helping him overcome the obstacles and turn his life around.

He's been speaking to Midlands 103's Ellen Butler about those obstacles and how he's now helping to support others who are struggling...
