Social enterprise aims to eliminate our dependence on single use plastics via an app.
An Athlone based start-up company is hoping to encourage individuals and communities to tackle single-use plastic packaging by using a special app and calculator.
Simon Ruddy who designed the programme says the idea came about as a result of research which showed that most people don’t feel their own effort would make any difference in tackling a crisis which is mostly described in global terms.
Diluteze will launch the CUSP Programme next year, which stands for Cease using Single-use Plastic.
It will allow the user to access the weight of a number of commonly used plastics and will convert their monthly usage to kilograms.
The user will also be able to see how that converts to C02 emissions and their impact on the environment.
