Episode 49 is a Netflix double-header! With Jolyon off working on a “Tales from the Crypt” comic, Will and Richard talk about a pair of movies - Night of the Wild (2015) and Hush (2016). With “Night of the Wild”, it seemed at first the movie was executed in a “kinda sincere” way, but the wheels came off of that in short order! Right away we meet a man who acts like a cartoon hillbilly and some fluffy dogs that do some murders, perhaps due to space rabies. ”Coconut” really freaked Will out, with it’s souless black eyes, like a murderous gerbil. It seems the attacks are all gravy-induced, except the ones done by puppets. PSA: you are not outrunning any wolfy dogs. Or even Richard’s chihuahua, with a 50 foot head start! Are there a lot of Northern Exposure references? Just ask Roslyn! Although some dogs could act vicious, most of them were super happy to be shooting a movie! What else does this thing have? Theres a waffle bat! Stunt people with heavy sleeves! Terrible CG cows! So many wagging tails! Are “Suspiria” nods a bad idea in a bad film? Why does nobody hang from their fingertips when bailing out of a second story window? Was this movie honestly made but incompetent? Was the comedy intentional? Did Rob Morrow speed away the moment his one day of shooting was over? We’ll tell you! Will contends that this is the little film that tried…and failed…spectacularly! You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll turn it off 20 minutes in! Hush (2016) is a brand spanking new movie and a pretty good one! It reminds us a bit of “You’re Next” but more of a “Home Siege” movie than a “Home Invasion” one. The “bearded dumbass” from “10 Cloverfield Lane” shows up and terrorizes an author who happens to be deaf and mute. She’s working on a rack of lamb with risoto, but maybe should try her hand at fried baloney sandwiches and S’mores. Richard found the cooking scenes very tense, though. Your hosts encourage you to fight back like our heroine does and advise you that the calls are always coming from inside the house! This episode is not all guns and gravy, but you’ll be entertained!
