Episode 116 is about a movie that has the allure of a big name attached to it. Well, two if you count "Dracula”. Yes, we’re talking about “Dario Argento’s Dracula 3D” (2012). Dario may have lost his mojo some time prior to making this one. Of course, this doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to talk about. Will figures that the $5.99 Richard spent on the used DVD is about double what the box office returns were. Richard recently watched Argento’s “Inferno” (1980). To describe this one sounds like you’re making it up. Jolyon recently watched three other Argento films, all of which were “Suspiria” (1977). That’s right.
If you are looking forward to Rutger Hauer strolling in and lighting up the screen as Van Helsing, you’ll have to wait. An hour and 14 minutes, to be exact. But then you finally get a Dutch guy playing this Dutch guy. A cinematic first! Another first is Dracula turning into an owl! You know what isn’t a cinematic first? Asia Argento nude! So, there’s something for everyone.
Now, it’s time to make those lanky wolves a sandwich and deliver a naked CG slapaway!
