As part of the Spring 2019 Reunion programming, faculty members Dr. William Pirl MD '94, MPH '08, RF '14 and Dr. Jamie Jacobs speak to an audience of reunioning alumni about their co-taught course, "Fighting Cancer with the Mind". Using 'do psychological factors influence cancer survival?' as central question in the course they teach, Dr. Pirl and Dr. Jacobs walk through their profession of psycho-oncology and the topics they cover with their students. Dr. William Pirl is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, and is the Vice Chair for Psychosocial Oncology in the Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Pallative Care at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Jamie Jacobs, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and a clinical psychologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center in the Center for Psychiatric Oncology and Behavioral Sciences.
