Michelle Rhee is the founder and CEO of StudentsFirst, a grassroots movement that seeks to mobilize parents, teachers, students, and administrators throughout the country in an effort to bring about meaningful results in education reform at both the local and national level. In 2007, Washington DC Mayor Adrian Fenty appointed Rhee as Chancellor of the District of Columbia Public Schools, a school district serving more than 47,000 students in 123 schools. She was previously Teach for America corps member in Baltimore City. She has a bachelor's degree in government from Cornell University and a master's degree in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
