In this episode of Traveling Blues - celebrating Alfie Smith's birthday, as well as the birthdays of Albert Castiglia, Percy Mayfield, and Son Seals. New recordings from Ian Siegal and from Albert Castiglia, some tunes by Eddie Cotton, and from the Danish band The Blues Overdrive. Alfie Smith is a blues singer and a fine guitarist (both acoustic and electric) from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and I managed to grab a few live acoustic performances of his from YouTube. Eddie Cotton was this year's winner at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and has a new album coming out any day now. Ian Siegal has a new live recording of acoustic sessions he recorded with Alvin Youngblood Hart, Cody Dickinson, Luther Dickinson, and Jimbo Mathus.
