Description

The spoken word and stunning orchestral composition from composer Shane Cullinan's contemporary oratorio The Pietà.

Award-winning actor Frances Barber brings to life the role of a woman devastated by the loss of her son to street crime. The Pietà portrays a mother’s raw emotions through her own words; the piece is inspired by the moment when Christ’s body was placed in his mother’s arms and Cullinan relocates it to a modern-day Manchester of gun crime and street violence. The result is an electric piece of music and theatre.
