Dawn near the Coffin Game Reserve in the Colockum Wildlife Area in central Washington. A herd of elk bedded down for the evening across the meadow from my tent. As the sun moved toward first light, the large males began to stir the herd, bugling out that it was time to awake. They were answered by a nearby coyote pack that was getting ready to take itself to bed. The cries of the pack and the cries of the herd briefly intermingle.
*technical notes*
There was actually a 46 second lull between the initial bugle in this recording and the first coyote howl. This was the only edit I made. For brevity.
The recording itself was pretty darn far away. There is a very light amount of noise reduction.
