Cordell Wise joined his high school teammate Ken Faulkner on the Fighting Camel basketball team on his way to becoming a two-time All-American. Cordell Wise was also the first African American student to enroll at Campbell.
A South Jersey standout, Cordell led the Camels to 60 victories over his three seasons after transferring from Temple – capped by a berth in the NAIA national tournament.
After graduation, his career path took him through playing basketball, teaching and coaching, working in an Atlantic City casino, finance, and then into the world of tennis, where he ran programs and taught for two decades.
In the next installment of Tales from the Creek, Stan Cole talks with Cordell Wise about his path to Campbell, and journey since, which included induction into CU's Athletics Hall of Fame.
