I met Ricky Byrd back in the daze… when we were both in a daze… I was booking the Rock’ N Roll Café on Bleecker Street. Ricky was already a rockstar, center stage with Joan Jett ~ Blackheart lead guitarist, playing those iconic riffs in the great MTV Music Video Days. Ricky Ricky has recorded, toured and/or has performed with Roger Daltrey, Ian Hunter, Southside Johnny, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Joe Walsh, Mavis Staples, Billy Squier, Darlene Love, Ronnie Spector, Brian Wilson, Steve Miller, Graham Nash, Don Felder, Alice Cooper, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Van Zant, Mick Taylor, Dion, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Bramlett, Billie Joe Armstrong, Bill Medley, Paul Shaffer, Smokey Robinson and many others. Two years ago Ricky was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. An honor which befalls the very best, and the very few.
More importantly, 29 years ago, he got sober. For the past 9 years, using music to help others follow in kind has been his life’s passion, and now, his work. Ricky Byrd’s Clean Getaway, a non-profit he started, provides concert events, music outreach sessions, and early education and prevention programs, to raise awareness about the disease of addiction and to provide resources for those suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.

As a sober woman in recovery, Ricky’s plight and his passion are close to my heart. We now party like it’s 1869.
Basically an old Borscht Belt Jew at heart, this RockBoy is all about rock, bling and egg creams.
We talk rock, rock stars, getting high, and getting straight. A lotta laughin' was goin' on...
