Ben Smith aka Spacematters was introduced to drum and bass in the early 2000s by close friend Bangaz. Not long after, he teamed up with a crew of like-minded heads—Darg, Mullet, Fog, and Luckman—to form 2FG, making their mark at gigs across New Zealand’s South Island.
By the mid-2000s, Spacematters began crafting his own beats, drawing heavy influence from artists like Loxy, Pessimist, The Untouchables and a solid network of producers , his sound evolved with a clear focus: pushing the darker, deeper, and more underground realms of DnB.
Spacematters continues to champion the raw edge of drum and bass, staying true to the roots while forging ahead with a forward-thinking approach to sound.
