1 Corinthians 12:14-31
I. Unity in Diversity
A. Needed
1. Recognizing one’s own value = not saying “I don’t belong”
Danger- become bitter/envious; become disengaged
Continually ask: “God, how do you want to work in and through me to build up others and proclaim and display Jesus?
2. Recognizing the value of others = not saying “I don’t need them”
3. Recognizing God’s Authority and Plan
*Downplaying our place in the Body means not trusting the goodness of God’s plan.
*Overstating our place in the Body means not trusting the wisdom of God’s limits.
B. Known
1. Honoring one another
2. Same care for one another
3. Suffering, Mourning, and Rejoicing with one another
II. Diversity within Unity
A. Diversity in the Universal Church
1. Relationship among Local Churches
2. Denominations/Partnerships
B. Diversity in the Local Church
1. Individual - Family - Seating - Group - Neighborhood - Affinity
2. Diverse Gifts and Roles
3. Desire for More Impact
Response
1. Have you confessed Jesus as Lord, before trying to be needed and known by others?
2. How can we help one another be needed and known at Emmaus?
3. How can we build up other churches to advance the Gospel?
