In this episode, Niall O'Sioradáin reads from the handwritten statement of Patrick Pearse, who was was one of the seven signatories of the proclamation of the Irish Republic, and President of the Provisional Government.
He was court martialled and executed after the Easter Rising. This is an extract from Pearse’s handwritten account of his statement to the court martial.
