Fort McMurray author Dorothy Bentley introduces her children’s poetry picture book Summer North Coming, followed by a Q&A led by Calgary writer Barbori Garnet.
Dorothy Bentley has been writing poetry sporadically since elementary school, but only recently began submitting it to contests, literary magazines. and publishers. Summer North Coming, published by Fitzhenry & Whiteside in September 2019, was a winner in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo annual “Words in Motion” contest. F&W published the sequel, Winter North Coming, in the same hardcover edition. More of her poetry has appeared in NorthWord, A Literary Journal of the North, Ambrosia Literary Review, and elsewhere, plus forthcoming in the (M)othering Anthology to be released by Innana Press.
