'Normal' service returned to Wall Street overnight with the benchmark US indices all setting all-time highs on the eve of the US fourth quarter earnings season getting under way - Dow up +206-points or +0.81% to record its fastest run to a midpoint milestone in history, hitting 25,500 in just seven sessions. The broader S&P500 rose +0.70%, with the Energy sector (up +2%) leading the rally. The technology-centric NASDAQ gained +0.81%. The small capitalisation Russell 2000 index rose +1.73%. JP Morgan Chase & Co, Blackrock Inc and Wells Fargo are all slated to post fourth quarter earnings numbers tonight AEST.
