Both the Dow and S&P500 eked out gains to establish fresh record closing highs after staging a comeback in afternoon trading on the 30th anniversary of 'Black Monday' - Dow +5-points or +0.02% and The broader S&P500 edged +0.03% higher after wiping out an earlier ~0.5% fall. The NASDAQ closed down -0.29%, with Apple (down -2.37%) posting its biggest single-session decline since 10 August amid speculation of soft demand and cuts in production for the iPhone 8. Technology heavyweights Facebook, Google parent Alphabet, Netflix and Amazon all finished in the red.
