A stronger-than-expected November jobs report lifted both the Dow and S&P500 indices to fresh record highs on Friday- Dow up +118-points or +0.49% to notch its 65th all-time closing high for the year (just 4 behind the record of 69 back in 1995). and the broader S&P500 +0.55%, NASDAQ +0.40%. For the week, both the Dow and S&P500 advanced +0.4%, while the Nasdaq slipped -0.10%. The US Congress passed a two-week spending bill that will keep the government agencies functioning until December 22. The extra breathing room will also hopefully give Republicans the focus they need to pass their tax cuts and avoid the distraction of a potential government shutdown.
