Description

US equity markets ended the week with a whimper as the wrangling around proposed tax reform package continued in Washington after Senate Republican leaders released their proposals last Thursday (9 November) that contained some significant departures from the House tax reform proposal - Dow down -40-points or 0.17% and the broader S&P500 -0.09% (with the healthcare and energy sectors the biggest drags on the index), NASDAQ inched +0.01% higher. Both the Dow and S&P500 snapped eight-week winning streaks, falling -0.5% and -0.21% last week respectively. The Nasdaq broke a six-week winning run with a -0.2% decline last week. Macy's rose +2.46%, helped by speculation that the retailer could be a takeover target for Amazon.
