US equity markets resumed trading after the Thanksgiving holiday and advanced to fresh record highs in an abbreviated Friday trading session - Dow up +32-points or +0.14%. The broader S&P500 +0.21% and settled above 2,600 for the first time, with technology and materials leading seven of eleven sectors higher. A number of brick-and-mortar retailers traded strongly as investors monitored the Black Friday sales, with Macy's up +2.1%, Kohl's +1% and Gap +1.6%. The technology-centric NASDAQ rose +0.32% and posted intra-day and record closing highs, with Amazon gaining +2.6% to a fresh record peak. The small capitalisation Russell 2000 index (up +0.16%) also closed at a record high. The benchmark US indices recorded their first weekly gain in 3-weeks,with the Dow and S&P500 adding +0.9%, while the Nasdaq outperformed with a +1.6% advance.
