A very subdued finish to a positive week for equity markets ahead of the Memorial Day long weekend saw the benchmark US indices trade sideways on Friday and close little moved - Dow dipped -3-points, while both the broader S&P500 (up +0.03%) and the technology-centric NASDAQ (+0.08%) eked out small gains to set fresh record closing highs. The benchmark indices all posted solid gains for the week, with the Dow adding +1.32% (to be +6.67% higher for the year), S&P500 +1.43 (and up +7.91% year-to-date) and the Nasdaq +2.08% (up +15.36% year-to-date). The Nasdaq has rallied 17 of the 20 session thus far this month, the best such record since September 1996. News wires this morning reporting that North Korea appear to have conducted another ballistic missile test.
