Wall Street marked the end of the third quarter with fresh record intra-day and closing highs for both the S&P500 and Nasdaq. The Dow rose +24-points or +0.11% and locked in an eight consecutive quarter of gains (up +4.94%) for the first time since 1997. The broader S&P500 rose +0.37% to register its 39th record closing high (2,519.36) this year and its eighth straight quarter of gains (up +3.96%). Information Technology was the best sector performer in the S&P500 for the quarter (up 8.3% for a fifth-straight quarter of gains), while Consumer Staples was the only sector to fall in the third quarter. The technology centric NASDAQ gained +0.66% to be up up for a fifth consecutive quarter (+5.79%). President Trump flexed his fingers on Twitter again over the weekend on the subject of North Korea, messaging that "Being nice to Rocket Man hasn't worked in 25-years, why would it work now? Clinton failed, Bush failed, and Obama failed. I won't fail". Trump also tweeted "I told Rex Tillerson, our wonderful Secretary of State, that he is wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man".
