A clutch of very strong quarterly results from heavyweight technology companies Amazon (up +13.22%), Microsoft (+6.41%) and Google parent Alphabet (+4.26%) - all of which hit record highs - set a bullish tone for US markets last Friday - Dow up +33-points or +0.53% and S&P500 +0.81%. The broader market also received a boost from some stronger-than-expected economic data. The technology-centric NASDAQ surged +2.20% to a fresh record high, with ~US$200B being added to the value of the Nasdaq 100. Indeed, ~US$185B was added to the market capitalisation of the five largest technology companies - Facebook, Amazon.com, Alphabet, Microsoft and Apple - alone. Friday's session capped another strong week for the benchmark US indices, with Dow gaining +0.45%, S&P500 +0.23% and the Nasdaq +1.09%.
