US equity markets retreated as US-China trade angst continued to dominate investor sentiment, with the S&P500 and Nasdaq recording their worst weekly performances of 2019 to date - Dow down -98-points or -0.37%, paring an earlier -334-point decline. The broader S&P500 lost -0.73% to post its fifth consecutive session slide. NASDAQ -1.32%. For the week, the Dow fell -2.6%, its worst weekly performance since the week ended 31 May and now sits 3.2% below its record closing high of 27,359 struck on 15 July (albeit still sits +14% higher year-to-date). The S&P500 fell -3.1%, logging its biggest weekly decline since the week ended 21 December and now sits 3.1% below its record closing high of 3,025.85 set on 26 July (but is still up +14% year-to-date). The Nasdaq dropped -3.2%, also marking the biggest weekly loss since 21 December and leaving the the technology centric 3.9% below its record close of 8,330.21 struck on 26 July.
