US equity markets retreated after the all of the Dow, S&P500 and Russell 2000 indices carved out record closing highs in the previous session, with trading volumes lighter than usual ahead of the Thanksgiving Day holiday - Dow down -174-points or -0.58% at 29,872.47. The broader S&P500 slipped -0.16%, with Energy down -2.4%. The technology-centric Nasdaq gained bucked the weaker trend with a +0.48% gain and booked its first fresh record closing high (12,094.40) in three months.
