Both the S&P500 and Nasdaq settled with their fourth consecutive record closing high as investors eyed the latest round of strong economic data and amid optimism around easing global trade tensions - Dow up +61-points or 0.23% The broader S&P500 rose +0.57% (to 2,914.04)to settle above >2,900 for the first time. The Consumer Discretionary (up +1.12%) and Information Technology (+1.01%) sectors led eight of the eleven primary sectors higher. The technology centric NASDAQ gained +0.99%. Amazon.com rose +3.38% to a record high (US$1,998.10), buoyed by an upgrade from Morgan Stanley. Apple Inc also hit a record high, closing +1.49% higher at US$222.98. The small capitalisation Russell 2000 index (up +0.37%) also booked a record closing high.
