US equity markets mixed, with technology stocks under fresh pressure - Dow rose-97-points or +0.29% to 34,230.34 , logging its 22nd record closing high of 2021 but slightly unwinding an earlier +200-point rally. The index also logged a fresh record intra-day high (34,331.2). Goldman Sachs Group Inc (up +%), Caterpillar Inc (+%) and Chevron Corp (+%) were all notable performers. Boeing Co fell -2.3% after Reuters reported that U.S. air safety officials requested fresh analysis and documentation from the company showing numerous 737 MAX subsystems would not be affected by electrical grounding issues flagged previously. The broader S&P500 inched +0.07% higher despite fading in closing trading. Caesars Entertainment Inc was the leading index performer, rising +7.8% after the casino operator said it expected to benefit from the economy reopening. The Nasdaq eased -0.37%, booking its fourth consecutive session decline and longest losing streak since the five-day stretch recorded in on October last year. Amazon.com Inc fell -%, with a Securities and Exchange Commission filing recording that Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jeff Bezos sold ~2B of worth of stock this week. Netflix, and Facebook all fell over >1%. The small capitalisation Russell 2000 eased -0.31%. Moderna Inc rose ~1% in the extended session (following a -6.19% fall in regular trading) after the company said its COVID booster shot generates a promising immune response against variants found in South Africa and Brazil. The early data is based on results from an ongoing clinical trial.
