Fresh trade concerns stoked caution among investors and dragged the benchmark US indices lower - Dow down -93-points or 0.53% to snap a four session winning streak, with Apple Inc (down -2.66%) and Boeing Co (-1.07%) among the key laggards. The broader S&P500 -0.56%, breaking a five session winning streak as the Information Technology (down -1.39%) and Consumer Discretionary (-1.27%) sectors sharply underperformed. The technology-centric NASDAQ slumped -1.43% to log its worst session since 27 July. All five of the FAANG stocks declined (Facebook Inc down -1.1%, Apple -2.66%, Alphabet Inc -1.4% and Netflix Inc -3.9%). Amazon.com Inc fell -3.2% - its worst single session decline since 24 April - with CitiGroup penning a research note suggesting the on-line giant should be split in two to avoid antitrust scrutiny from the Trump administration.
