Description

US markets ended the session little changed, recovering from earlier falls induced by the latest Trump-Russia speculation (this time centred on Donald Trump Jnr. and an email exchange with a Russian lawyer) - Dow unchanged (recovering from opening losses that saw the index down ~100-points) while the broader S&P500 slipped -0.08% (with Financials the main laggard). The technology-centric NASDAQ added +0.27%. Overall trading activity was muted ahead of Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen beginning her semi-annual testimony before Congress tonight AEST and with the second-quarter US corporate earnings season kicking off in earnest on Friday (July 14). Overall, S&P 500 second-quarter earnings are expected to rise 6.2% year-over-year, according to S&P Capital IQ.
