US markets retreated, failing to defend earlier gains as investors digested the Federal Reserve's latest monetary policy announcement and accompanying projections - Dow down -142-points or -0.55% , with Goldman Sachs down -3.4% and all of Bank America, Morgan Stanley, J.P.Morgan Chase and Citigroup falling at least 2%. FedEx Corp fell 3.5% following the company's softer-than-expected fiscal third quarter result posted after the close of the previous session. The broader S&P500 -0.29%, NASDAQ held on to a+0.07% gain.
