US markets finished in negative territory albeit well off the worst levels of the session, with some soft corporate earnings and fresh falls in China weighing on sentiment - Dow lost -126-points or -0.50%, recovering from an earlier ~550-point slump Caterpillar Inc (down -7.56%) and 3M Co (-4.4%) were the biggest decliners after disappointing quarterly results. The broader S&P500 settled with a loss of -0.55%, with the Energy (down -2.67%) and Industrials (-1.60%) sectors leading the weakness. The technology-centric NASDAQ fell -0.42%. Both the S&P500 and Nasdaq recovered from falls over >2%. The small-capitalisation Russell 2000 dropped -0.8% and fell into negative territory for the year.
