US markets - Stocks rose on Tuesday, but sentiment on Wall Street was dampened by lingering fears that the economy is slowing down. The Dow closed up 140.9 points or +0.55% after rising as much as 279 points earlier in the day. The S&P 500 gained +0.72% notching its first gain in three sessions after trading 1.1 % higher earlier in the session. The NASDAQ finished up +0.71%.
