TOPIC: A panel of experts from the provinces and territories released their recommendations this week on how Canada should move forward with right-to-die legislation. It was a moment of victory for our next guest - who was the only Conservative MP who fought for the right-to-die during the Harper government.
GUEST: Steven Fletcher
TITLE: Former MP; a pioneer in the fight to allow doctor assisted death. His work on this has recently been published in a new book called “Master of My Fate.”
In 2014 he introduced two private members bills to allow for physician assisted death. Although no political parties supported the bill or even wanted to talk about the issue, the public certainly wanted to discuss the issue. Ultimately, much of the wording in Fletcher's bill was used by the Supreme Court to help layout the framework to allow for Physician assisted death.
