In this event, Maureen Howard, Robert Stone, and Tobias Wolff give short talks about different aspects of Mark Twain, and then the panelists discuss matters such as Twain's Americanness, the ambivalence of his public role (Stone calls him "a truly subversive writer who had to live out his life as a tame gadfly"), and his influence on ensuing generations of writers.
