In this event, Toni Morrison, Cynthia Macdonald, and Maureen Howard read from the work of three early 20th-century women writers, Margery Latimer, Antonia White, and Storm Jameson, whose books had been recently reprinted by the Feminist Press and Virago. Vivian Gornick introduces the event and the three "lost" writers, whose work encompasses Catholic girls' schools, a childhood spent in the north of England, and the power a strong, unconventional older woman has over a younger one in a small Midwestern town. This is the first of a series of events on lost women writers.
