The winning poems, stories, and nonfiction pieces from the annual PEN Prison Writing Contest are read by actor Barbara Feldon. Etheridge Knight also recites his work and talks about his time in prison. The event ends with the reading of an open letter to Mario Cuomo, protesting Directive 49/11, which controlled from whom and how prisoners could get reading material.
