This is the 9th time, or 18th year, the Roger Klein / Publisher Citation has been awarded; this iteration is held at the Yale Club. This event is held every 2 years. The Publisher Citation is awarded to "a publisher whose career has demonstrated continuous and distinctive service to international letters, to the freedom and dignity of writers, and to free the transmission of the printed word across barriers of poverty, ignorance, and censorship." This year the Publisher Citation is awarded to Barney Rosset, owner of Grove Press. Rembar and Seaver give speeches about working with Rosset. Wallace gives opening remarks about the Roger Klein award, which is given to Smith.
