My first ever Love Parade… and what a life-changing moment it was! I’d just landed in Berlin a few days before the Parade and on that same weekend I played at an event called No UFOs – Weekend of Love, staying with Marcos Lopez from the legendary duo Marmion.
Days after were spent digging through record stores in Berlin, hunting down the sounds that defined that weekend — and I even scored a promo from an up-and-coming artist named Namito. Absolute gold!
After the Parade, Marcos headed out of town for a few days and told me I could use his decks while he was away. So one afternoon, surrounded by stacks of fresh vinyl and still buzzing from everything I’d just experienced, I hit record and laid down a spontaneous mix — one take, pure inspiration, straight from Berlin.
That mix became my Love Parade 1999 mixtape — 100 promo only copies shared around Sydney when I got home, spreading that European energy across the dancefloors.
