It has been a while since I have worked on anything on the upcoming album "Anno Domini" (literally "Year of our Lord" mostly because this track was something I have wanted to do for quite some time. Originally inspired by Eisenstein's epic film "Alexander Nevsky" and its famous ice battle. This song focuses on the history of the battle, but not so much on the breaking ice, as it seems there is a lot of controversy about whether this idea was added after the battle. Regardless the battle was a huge defeat for the Teutonic Knights(German) and ended their invasion into that region especially into Novgorod (Now Russia). Years ago I originally conceived this track to be an orchestral like piece, but as time went on and after works like "Four Horses" I had the confidence to make it Progressive Metal, something that really makes since to me given the epic nature and scale of the battle. Well this is a first release mixdown as it has taken me about 15 mixes over about 5 to 6 compositions to get it this close... For now I will leave the length at around 7 mins, but I am really temped to fade it around 5:30ish
