Description

The first attempt at a song inspired by my original poem written oh so long ago:

"Crushed Garlands in the Winter of May"

The season of my soul was turned to Summer, when my eyes met the light of your face.

And the forest bloomed at the grace of your touch, the animals basked in the rays of your smile, and I... fell in love.

I took you and put you in my heart and dressed you with white satin and garlands, and there we were one.

But voices called me from far away years and cast my heart astray with shadow fears. And there was only cold, as my eyes filled with lies, and yours with tears, and the sunshine died.

Your tears were touched by my cold heart and turned to snow, and May turned to winter and there... time went into chaos.

'Twas the winter of may because you had gone away and the garlands lie crushed in the snow, as their petals were blown into the wind.

And soon I became lost in myself and began to flirt with a lady clothed all in black. But alas she was of the fickle sort in which flirt turns to love.

And oh what a love it was. We would dance each day as her touch would slow my cold heart, and her breath would whisper her name... "Death"

And Death would run her thin fingers through my hair, and the only words that would rest upon my lips were words of fears.

Fears still yet unrevealed, as my cold heart would slowly pound to pump the blood gone cold, pump it through my fast freezing soul.

And May aimlessly wandered crying tears turned to snow, as the trees and flowers died in a season of eternal winter, a fifth season, one of death....

And when I thought I had drawn my last breath, the winds of May brought me a kiss. A kiss undeserved yet divine, and death was cast away.

A kiss of forgiveness, a kiss of understanding, a kiss laced with more than a kiss. Its warmth ran through me, and the cold was overwhelmed with love and soon my hearts burden eased.

As my blood thawed, the sun started to shine once again, the flowers raised to embrace its radiance. And with the return of the flowers, the forest bloomed with life.

The snow melted in the rays of love. You had held on to love despite all that surrounds. Believed in me despite my words. And through your belief, all was reborn.

'Twas the Spring of the Earth and what was warm had once again returned to me, and May... bloomed into June....
