Finally got around to recording the latest in my 138 BPM Trance demo series last Saturday afternoon, a beautiful sunny day in Seattle that I should probably have been outside doing something healthy rather than hanging out in my poorly lit studio blowing my eardrums out, but oh well, hopefully you will think it was worth it! I decided to just call this one by the month rather than try to think of a more clever name for it, although one observation I would call out is this is a good example of the folly of creating the “album art” before the mix, because as is turns out this one ended up a little heavier on the edgy and dark side than what I consider to be the typical "sound" I go for, so the lovely pastel sunset is perhaps a bit misleading haha (at least for the first part).. This one has some more clubby and Psy-Trance elements in the first half, but the usual "Gotek-esque" euphoric and melodic sounds are all still there, it just makes you work a little harder to get to them per se.. Also, rather than just bang it out at 138 to 140 there is a slightly slower build on this one, kicking off at 134-136 for the first 4 tracks then the rest is at 138 with the final 2 ramping up to 140, so the common denominator is 138, and thusly I don’t feel too guilty calling it a “138 BPM Trance demo”! :P I hope you enjoy the mix, and as usual, THANK YOU for your support.
