On Friday, April 12th I was incredibly honored and excited to be able to warm up the decks, along with my good DJ buddy, Serjey Andre Kul, for the one-and-only, beloved Irish Trance DJ/Producer and early pioneer in this music, Mr. PURE Trance himself, Richard Mowatt, or more commonly known as.. SOLARSTONE, at Ora Seattle. This was my third time getting to open for Richard, and as expected, it was a night of beautiful, euphoric, vibey Trance and Progressive that I was so happy to be a part of. On these rare occasions when I get to open numerous times for the same famous, globe-trotting DJ/Producers like Solarstone, it adds a special element of fun to it because they always remember me like we’re old friends haha, which just makes it all the more special of an experience. Also, Richard has such a loyal following and it was awesome to see all these fans show up for the chance to shake his hand, get autographs, or just old friends who’ve seen him play for decades, there to say hello to a dear friend. It was really cool. One funny little note about this mix, this DJ booth was a newer downstairs edition to the club that I hadn’t played on yet, and it had slightly older CDJ’s and I was having issues getting my SD memory stick to load, so in the commotion I accidentally started with my very last track first. I meant to kick this set off with Nils Hoffmann, “Closer”, but the DJ before me somehow set it to my last track and I didn’t notice until after I already transitioned it in. So, it was one of those serendipitous things where I had a bonus track at the very end that I didn’t think I’d get to, which was Yotto, AVIRA, ALSO ASTIR, “Forget”, accidentally get played first, and it was GREAT and the crowd loved it!! I am really thankful it happened haha. Anyway, I loved playing this set, and I hope you enjoy. ~ Mark a.k.a. Gotek
