U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Glenbeulah) says he wants to see the partial government shutdown come to an end, and he wants congress to deliver on a long-held promise to secure America’s southern border.

Grothman, who represents the 6th Congressional District, has taken heat for voting against a House bill that gives backpay to all federal government employees, regardless of whether they work during the shutdown or not. At the same time, House Democrats declined to take up a bill Grothman co-sponsored, the No Work Without Pay Act, which would provide immediate pay for federal employees who are working during the shutdown.

As the shutdown entered its 24th day Monday, Grothman spoke with MacIver News Service about fiscal responsibility, homeland security, and the greatest rock & roll song of all time. The congressman is our guest on this edition of MacIver Newsmakers.
